Crypto-Consciousness Conference 2017
About the Conference
Cryptocurrencies and other blockchain technologies might radically change the world, but how will they change us?
Any change to the systems that shape our world, must also impact our inner world – our beliefs, values, sense of identity and beyond.
This conference will bring some of the world’s leading thinkers in the space for a day of talks, open discussion, and expert-led breakout groups to explore how these emerging technologies might elevate consciousness and transform the human experience.
Here are some questions we’ll be delving into:
- How might cryptocurrency/blockchain technology impact individual and collective consciousness?
- How would a global shift in how we exchange value alter our sense of trust and connection to humanity?
- How does the greed partly fueling the emerging industry impact the ecosystem, and alter what might emerge?
- How does greed impact and alter the ecosystem?
- Can we tie currency to psychological wellbeing or mental health?
The Crypto-Consciousness Conference aims to set the stage for an ongoing conversation and community, pondering how these emerging technologies might influence the heart and soul of humanity.

Bill Melton is the founder of several notable companies, including VeriFone, GIV Global Private Equity, and Cybercash Inc. Bill has been an entrepreneur building global technology companies for more than 30 years. Mr. Melton was a founding investor of Transaction Network Services Inc. Mr. Melton holds a Master’s degree in Asian Studies and Chinese Philosophy.
Dor Konforty is founder of Synereo, and an expert on decentralized organizational principles with many years of experience in the space. Has a master’s degree in neurobiology from an interdisciplinary brain research program in Tel-Aviv University, working on neural networks, and knows what makes distributed economies flow — whether they’re based on neurotransmitters or cryptocurrencies. A graduate of the Israeli Air Force IT unit.
Jorge is CTO of Economic Space Agency and lead architect of Gravity, a distributed computing architecture that is built from the ground up on object capabilities. Gravity allows multiple independent chains with tunable replication and performance parameters; all this whilst maintaining easy interoperability among networked constellations of autonomous agents.
Jorge’s work in software architecture is also informed by his exploration into consciousness and has been one of the earliest members of Urban Dharma.
Josh Whiton is an eco-tech luminary and enlightenment explorer devoted to the evolution of consciousness. He was named a Champion of Change by the Obama White House for the social and environmental impact of his past startups. As a mentor to the Thiel Foundation Josh was instrumental in garnering early support for the, then unreleased, Ethereum project. Check out his take on crypto consciousness here.
Matthew is Director of Communications at Holo, a peer-to-peer application hosting network that enables anyone with spare computing capacity to earn cryptocurrency by providing processing, storage or bandwidth services to other users. Holo is built on top of, and supports, applications running Holochain, a new, open-source infrastructure for truly distributed applications. Compared with alternatives such as blockchains, Holochain applications are faster, cheaper, fit-for-purpose, extendable and adaptable. Matthew is a graduate of Berkeley Law School, and occasionally surfs 50 foot waves at the world famous Mavericks in Northern California.
Max Brody is co-founder & CEO of Cent (cent.co) – a platform built on the Ethereum blockchain that allows anyone to earn cryptocurrencies by answering the questions of others. In blending the worlds of art, entrepreneurship, and philosophy, he sees a new octave of human awareness emerging where instead of applying band-aid solutions to the effects of systemic imbalances, attention is increasingly being paid to the causes of these outward-facing problems.
Noah Thorp is CEO/Founder at CoMakery, a platform that helps modern tribes to thrive through token economies. Previously, he co-founded a holacratic blockchain innovation prototyping studio, was VP of Engineering at Nasdaq Private Market, and ran a record label where he wrote algorithmic music and pressed obscure records on thick Czechoslovakian vinyl.
Toni Lane Casserly
Toni Lane Casserly is an artrepreneur in the Digital Currency and Blockchain Industry who co-founded CoinTelegraph and the virtual blockchain nation, VNATION. Miss Lane serves as an advisor to several notable companies, funds and family offices, including SingularityU, The United Nations, HSBC, Bosch, Cicso, P&G.
With a background in the sciences, international relations, law (and early attempts at game programming), Vienna had proposed for elections and governance to be run on the blockchain in 2013 while organizing an electoral reform movement of 80,000 people in Malaysia. She had been involved in the blockchain space since 2011 where she co-founded a blockchain start-up. Thereafter started trading and angel investing in early blockchain start-ups. Currently, she is leading operations at Economic Space Agency.
Outside of the blockchain space, she co-founded a human rights organisation and a media station focusing on ASEAN (Southeast Asia’s EU equivalent) socio-economic current affairs, hosted international conference for the International Network of Engaged Buddhists (INEB), and is grateful to have been a part of Consciousness Hacking.
